Sexual Assault Awareness Week

GWC’s Intercultural Programs (ICP) office will host its 4th Sexual Assault Awareness Week from September 4-7 on campus, featuring interactive activities, installations, and a screening followed by a group discussion. Through the week’s programming, ICP aims to educate students and the community about sexual assault issues and affirmative consent, promote healthy relationships, and to provide resources for victims of assault and abuse.

The weeklong activities include:
Sexual Awareness Week - The Clothesline Project
  • The Clothesline Project: All week, Central Quad

    A visual display and a national movement that bears witness to the violence against women. A clothesline is hung with shirts, each one decorated with messages of emotion and hope, by a survivor herself or by allies.

Sexual Assault Awareness Week - The T-Shirt Station
  • T-Shirt Making Station: Tuesday 9/4 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Central Quad

    Speak up and get involved! Give voice to your feelings, hopes and support for survivors by decorating a T-shirt to be added to the installation.

Sexual Assault Awareness Week - Consent Fair
  • Consent Fair: Wednesday 9/5 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Student Center Patio

    Learn more about sexual assault prevention awareness, affirmative consent and Title IX information. Engage with key community organizations to learn more and get involved.

Sexual Assault Awareness Week - Movie The Invisible War
  • Film Screening of The Invisible Warfollowed by group discussion: Wednesday 9/5, 1:00 – 3:30 pm, Regional Criminal Justice Training Center MPR 100

    Watch the groundbreaking investigative documentary about the epidemic of rape within the U.S. Military. The film exposes the systemic cover-up of military sex crimes, chronicling survivor’s struggles to rebuild their lives and fight for justice.  There will be a guided discussion immediately following the screening.

ICP’s Mission:
The goal of Intercultural Programs is to engage the campus and ourselves in learning about different cultures and identities, including sexual orientation, gender, religion, race, socioeconomic status, and ability, as well as the intersections of these identities. Intercultural Programs also advocates for an inclusive campus for all students and works to create change on campus, in the nation, and in the world.
