Golden West College opened its doors and labs to over a hundred grade and middle school students for an evening of fun and discovery on Friday, September 30th. Teaming up with the Rotary Club of Huntington Beach, GWC hosted this free event that was open to the public to get grade school kids (and their families) interested in science. Attendees enjoyed 20 different interactive exhibits, including glow-in-the-dark rocks, make-your-own slime, generating electricity on a bike, building spaghetti and marshmallow towers, Alka-Seltzer rockets and much more. This year’s special attractions included a penny-smashing machine that commemorated GWC’s 50th Anniversary and a visit by Star Wars’ Darth Vader and Storm Troopers.
