Omid Pourzanjani was named Golden West College’s Manager of the Year at the Coast District Management Association (CDMA) Spring Social on June 30, 2011.
Each year the CDMA honors one manager from each location within the District. Everyone (Faculty, Staff, Hourly, and Managers) is invited to submit nominations. The criteria includes, notable achievement “above and beyond the call of duty” as a Coast Community College District manager, and has been a manager in this District for a minimum of eighteen (18) months by June 30, 2011.
The finalist is then selected using a point system by a panel composed of previous honorees from each of the District’s locations. Omid was honored with other recipients from Coastline: Dr. Vince Rodriguez; from OCC: Melissa Moser, and from the District: Jerry Marchbank.
Below are three excerpts from Omid’s nominations
“During Omid’s time in the Career & Technical Education Division at Golden West College, he has remained true to the cause…EDUCATING STUDENTS. There has been a positive transformation of the entire division that has positively affected people training for jobs, which is a vital role that the school plays, especially in a down economy. His outstanding service is not only noticed in CTE, but GWC campus-wide. His involvement in the development and administration of the scheduling system for the college is outstanding. He is always available to help colleagues and staff with scheduling problems or any issues that may arise. He truly has a heart for the progression of the college even in the difficult budget cuts. Omid’s love for educating students and his superior work ethic are to be commended.”
“I am nominating Omid Pourzanjani because since I have been in the CTE Division, there has been a positive transformation of the entire division that has positively effected people training for jobs, which is a vital role that the school plays, especially in a down economy. Omid’s leadership and above the call of duty activities that he takes on are directly responsible for the positive transformation.”
“Omid has taken on projects that help his division, including professional certifications in auto, digital arts, digital media, cosmetology, and computer science. He has aligned Golden West College with the professional community by being a leader in CTE OC, where his faculty are active participants in regional advisory meetings and corporate relationships. Faculty are receiving state of the art training in fields where software and hardware are changing rapidly, including app development, video editing, and game programming. This creates an environment where students are being prepared for current jobs in industry.”
