Former Golden West Rustler Chris Devenski was recently named to the American League All Star Team. Chris played shortstop and was the team’s #1 starting pitcher at Golden West during the 2009 and 2010 baseball seasons. He is currently a relief pitcher for the first-place Houston Astros and is one of the top relief pitchers in the Major Leagues. This year he has a record of 6-3 with and ERA of 2.73 while striking out 74 batters in 52.2 innings and only walking 14. Opposing hitters are only hitting .160 against him with a WHIP of 0.84. In a recent text to Rustler Head Coach Bert Villarreal, Chris said “Thank you Bert I appreciate all you have helped me with!! This is for GW.” Chris went on to play at Cal State Fullerton in 2011 and signed professionally after that year.
