On Thursday, November 3, 2011 Golden West College held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to dedicate its new Learning Resource Center.
The ceremony opened with the Presentation of the Flags by the Criminal Justice Academy Class 143 Honor Guard. Guests listened to speeches by GWC President Wes Bryan, Board President Jerry Patterson, and Associate Dean Jorge Ascencio, which were followed by tours of the new facility.
The Students Council surprised President Wes Bryan and Vice President Janet Houlihan with a proclamation of appreciation for their support of students through this project.
As a special treat, Mary Boyce Simpson, her son Jim and her granddaughter Kelly, were in attendance to cut the ribbon. The Library is named after her late husband and first GWC’s President, R. Dudley Boyce. Joining them were Jerry Wheeler, C.E.O. of the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce, Wes Bryan, Jerry Patterson, Jorge Asencio, Doug Larson, Dean of the Library and Distance Learning, retired.
