On Thursday August 5th, the Fountain Valley Police Department donated a retired Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor to the Golden West College Regional Criminal Justice Training Center. The vehicle is painted black and white, and is equipped with spotlights, and law enforcement specific emergency equipment which includes overhead lighting, complete public address system, and multi-function siren. This vehicle will be used to provide both realistic and state-of-the-art training for recruits in the CJTC’s Law Enforcement Training Academies.
The keys were officially transferred to Ron Lowenberg, Dean of the Criminal Justice Training Center, by Fountain Valley Police Chief Paul Sorrell, who was instrumental in making this donation possible. Chief Sorrell is also a graduate of the Golden West College Police Academy and proud of his association with Golden West College. Surrounding the car are recruits from RBC Class 140, who will directly benefit from the use of this vehicle during field-problem scenario training.
The Criminal Justice Training Center maintains a fleet of 5 retired emergency vehicles for training purposes. Typically, these vehicles are donated by surrounding law enforcement agencies who utilize the services of Golden West’s Regional Training Facility, saving our district thousands of dollars. The Fountain Valley Police Department has donated equipment in the past and continues to be a valued law enforcement training partner.
