Chefs for Scholarships was a Perfect Recipe for a Delicious Day Out
Food, fun and festivities were on the menu at the Golden West College Patrons 7th Annual Chefs for Scholarships event on Sunday September 23rd.
This popular community event has become the unofficial end to the lazy, hazy days of summer and the beautiful Golden West College campus was the perfect setting for a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon with friends and family.
Chefs from outstanding eateries in Huntington Beach and surrounding areas served everything from barbecue and pastas to foods representing the tastes of Japan, Germany, Mexico, Hawaii, France and more! (Along with ridiculously scrumptious desserts and outstanding wines and beer!)
Guests bid on fantastic silent auction offerings, and tried their luck on a wide variety of raffle prizes. The grand prize was an iPad and Visa gift card, won by Terri Zwick.
Music filled the air as guests selected their favorite song on the jukebox and the Swing Kittens entertained us with a sizzling set of three-part harmony. The kids enjoyed the game truck, clowns, and arts & crafts station.
Chefs for Scholarships is all about food and fun, but it’s also about doing something really good in our community: raising funds for scholarships. This year’s focus was on the educational needs of returning veterans. Young men and women who have given our country years of their lives in service often find themselves at a crossroads upon returning home and cuts in federal and state budgets very often impact their ability to pay for their educational needs in pursuit of a new career. Chefs for Scholarships helps to fill that gap for several of these heroes.
The Golden West College Patrons thank the sponsors, donors, participants, volunteers, and guests for making this a very successful event.
