The 2010 Juried Student Art Show opened in the GWC Fine Arts Gallery on Wednesday, April 28. The gallery was filled with excited students and proud family and friends of the artists. Some of the comments heard throughout the room were, “this is my favorite show of the year,” “these students are really talented,” “Awesome,” and “WOW, you did that!” Showcasing student’s work also demonstrates the high quality art instruction we have at Golden West College. This is one you don’t want to miss. The show will run through May 13.
The Gallery represents an educational tool for students’ learning. The reason for having a juried exhibition is to expose the students to how the real world operates outside GWC. A juried show is selective, not every piece that is submitted is accepted. Our jurors are from an outside institution. The jurors, Professor Rodney Tsukeskimi and Professor Mike Daniels from Long Beach City College, Fine Arts Department will use there expertise to select the pieces for the show.
