Golden West College’s Patrons hosted their annual “Chefs for Scholarships – Taste at Golden West” with a 60’s twist on Sunday, September 25th. Over 400 people attended this year’s event, and enjoyed sampling food and beverages from 27 local eateries. The crowd enjoyed the musical stylings of the “Satyn Dolls”, silent auction, photos with mascot Rustler Sam, the Bolsa Chica Conservancy “Windows to Our Wetlands” (WOW) Truck, Kids Korner activities, video game truck and the Volunteer Clowns of Orange County. The Patrons awarded GWC student Hannah Clark with the “Golden Chef Award” and a $500 scholarship for her philanthropic efforts on campus. Over $25,000 was raised during the event, with proceeds benefiting the students of Golden West College. “The Patrons do a fabulous job of running Chefs and raising scholarship funds to support our students,” says Bruce Berman, Director of GWC’s Foundation and Community Relations. “100% of the net proceeds are given out in scholarships and program support.” The big winner of the evening was Diana Rector, who walked away with the grand prize trip to Maui, Hawaii.
