GWC Design students will be working through the month of April to complete two futuristic jet aircraft models for the upcoming movie, Green Lantern, expected to release June 17, 2011. The project is at an unnamed Huntington Beach facility. It is about the size of an indoor football field and the jets will be amazing full size models. This work is secretive and there are no pictures allowed at this time.
This exclusive invitation is open to all GWC Design students who want to work on the project. The offer is a result of Golden West’s growing reputation in the design community. “We have strong connections with our Design advisory board, and our graduate students now working in the field.” Greg Wight, Design instructor explained. “When people interested in design come to GWC and see our new facility and what we are doing, we are getting noticed and the word is getting out there.”
The work relates to the Design portfolio class and students will receive extra credit value on an individual basis. Although this internship is unpaid, students will get three different letters from the companies involved confirming their work on this movie project for their portfolios. Successful students will be awarded paid work on two more upcoming movie projects.
