On Friday, September 28, 2012 Golden West College teamed up with the Rotary Club of Huntington Beach to offer an evening of hands-on science for school children in our local area. Hundreds of families enjoyed exhibits and science activities in the physical and life sciences. The event was spread out over a large area on campus, in Math/Science classrooms, the Student Center and patio, and various outdoor areas.
GWC faculty, students and community volunteers offered fun science activit1es, such as, making slime, building and launching rockets, riding a solar powered go-cart, riding a bike to generate electricity, collecting DNA, and identifying counterfeit money.
The business community came together to help make the event a success. Sponsors included AES, Beef Palace, Farmers & Merchants Bank, Southern California Edison, Sempra Enery utility, Sullivan Solar Power, Rainbow Disposal, and The Gas Company.
